MATTHEW RICHARDSON

Matthew studied at the University of South Australia, graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor of Podiatry. Matthew has a background in competitive sport having played soccer at a state level and thus has a strong interest in sports podiatry and biomechanics.

Initially Matthew worked in the public sector focusing on management of the high risk foot and given this knowledge base feels confident in all aspects of general podiatric care, including wound management and nail surgery. Following this period Matthew transitioned into private practice, moving to Canberra in 2012.

The majority of Matthew’s case load is biomechanically based with particular interest in the treatment of sports/musculoskeletal injuries, adolescent athletes, footballers of all codes, and plantar heel pain. Matthew also specialises in the prescription of the Richie Brace, a customised device used to manage complex conditions affecting the rear foot and ankle.

Matthew has been an active participant in continuing education since graduating and has completed post graduate level training in podiatric biomechanics and advanced orthotic therapy. Matthew is currently completing the FIFA Football Medicine Diploma.

Outside of the clinic Matthew enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, getting out for a run and live music.
